Professional Development Session

Excel International School recently held a comprehensive Professional Development Session led by the Senior Leadership Team, Middle Leaders, and the Head of Inclusion. 

The session focused on enhancing pedagogical approaches, strengthening leadership practices, and reinforcing inclusive education across all phases.

Educators actively participated in collaborative discussions and reflective workshops centred on effective teaching strategies, curriculum coherence, and differentiated learning. The session provided meaningful opportunities for professional dialogue, empowering teachers to refine their instructional practices and address the diverse learning needs of students.

An insightful professional session on Inquiry-Based Learning, led by Ms. Deborah Cunea, Early Primary Phase Coordinator, emphasised the importance of curiosity-driven exploration in developing critical thinking and independent learning among young students. The session highlighted how purposeful questioning and hands-on experiences can cultivate a deeper understanding and a lifelong love for learning.

 

 

A professional learning session led by Ms. Reena Jacqueline, Phase Coordinator for Years 2 to 5, focused on implementing Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to ensure equitable access and meaningful engagement for all students. The session explored strategies to make the Edexcel curriculum more inclusive, flexible, and responsive to diverse learning needs.

 

 

An enriching session led by Ms. Lourdes Joseph, Assistant Head Teacher, focused on the principles of Visible Learning, highlighting the impact of clarity, feedback, and reflection in enhancing both teaching and learning. The session emphasised how making learning visible empowers students to take ownership of their progress while supporting teachers in evaluating the effectiveness of their instructional practices.

 

 

 

 

 

An engaging professional development session on UAE National Identity, led by Ms. Sarah Talaat, Head of Department – UAE Social Studies and Related MOE Subjects, guided teachers on strategies to effectively integrate the nation’s heritage, values, and culture into their teaching.
